Italian Wine Scholar Class at the Texas Wine School. A blend of Grechetto, Gewurztraminer, Riesling and Sauvignon, this well made, Sauterne-style wine is made from botrytized grapes. Deep antique gold. Aromas of ripe apple, dried apricot, orange zest, white flowers, honey, saffron, caramel and sweet spices. Aged for 6 months in Allier and Troncais oak barrique. Still developing. Med. sweet, with med (+) acidity, and med alcohol (12.5%). Full-bodied and rich, with pronounced flavor intensity and length. Definitely worth trying. with plenty of aging potential. A good value considering the cost of similarly-styled wines from around the world.

Dessert Flight: Now things are getting good- lovely nose with lots of tropical fruit and botrytis and a more than ample palate with a softer, lighter body emphasizing the fruit and a balanced but quick finish. I agree with the prior notes that perhaps this is not quite as good as one would expect from the first sniff but this seems to me to be a well-composed wine that's a refreshing change from some of the more cloying passitos you run into from Italy.

Slight botrytis evident on this weird blending attempt to emulate/rival Sauternes.
Nose works well; honey, raisin, and fig aromas from old gold in glass
Palate is confused; sweetness underlying a slight bitterness, unreconciled acidity. Long and nutty finish.

Oro antico. Naso evidentemente influenzato dalla botritis, con netto iodio, note salmastre, zafferano, fico secco, alloro, farina. Bocca equilibrata, evidente l’influenza stitlistica del Sauternes. Bella acidità.
