  • Bill's wine. Petrol, pear and citrus with ample richness and acidity. Good example of mature Spatlese.

  • Still light in color, and very citrusy on the nose. As noted previously by another CT member, there was some black mold on the top 1/4 of the cork, but that didn't affect the wine. The first night, this showed noticeable petrol and fresh-cut rubber hose, which blew off by night 2. Citrus (lemon, a bit of grapefruit) and orchard fruit (pear, peach) with relatively lower acidity, plus some minerality in the a fairly long finish. Liked it so much I hit wine-searcher for another case.

  • Anticipated for many years opening the bottle. Surprised to see some mold on the outer edge of the cork but inner portion of cork fine, wine is sound.

I was expecting a bit more racy acidity from this wine. Not enough acidity to cut through the almost cloying sugar in the wine. Yes, good minerality and a very long finish. Aromas and flavors of apricot and peach.

  • Starts with an obvious petrol / diesel, oxidized pear, rotten violet, honey suckle nose, with a cardamom, honey dew melon, ripe nectarine, tart juicy apple, and high acidity and a little tingle on the tongue. Quickly oxidizes to cider spice, honey dew melon cotton candy with a cleansing juicy tart apple. Rich lingering texture throughout. Food parings are on the extremes. Boiled (to lose the acid) sauerkraut with fatty sausage or pork chops with lots of caraway, mustard greens with butter on the side or a high fat creamy low sugar dessert or VERY funky cheeses or truffled salami. OR just drink it on its own for dessert. I don't like the 100 point rating system because there is no standard to compare to.

  • Very clear bright yellow. Fantastic nose of petrol, stone and pear fruit. Delicious ripe pear and mineral flavours and enough acid to wrap it all up in a bright finish.
