Amazing as always, rich with a beautiful and expressive bouquet of red berries and fresh cut roses. Body is rich and tannic but very smooth. Top notch.

OCG’s Burlotto dinner (67 Pall Mall): Not sure this bottle was in top condition - felt slightly advanced, and my glass had quite a bit of sediment. Quite rich, dark and stern (though not tannic). Lovely flavour, soft and long. A little heady though, and a bit clunky by comparison with tonight's other Barolos.

Deep red, cedar, tobacco, and grilled herbs on the nose. Mature. Dried cherries, grilled herbs, still moderately tannic, enough acidity to stand up to red sauce and eggplant. Leather and mildly earthy on the finish.

Kidding. While it has those notes, it’s also full of deep dark dusty cherry, leather, licorice, dried cranberry, white pepper. Touch of cured meat at tobacco. Tannin is there, but it’s mellowed with age and masked with food.
So I admit I’ve bought less high end Barolo but this makes me a believer.
