Twelve generations of family wine-making is always cool. Equally, the willingness to evolve with time, try new ideas and focus on quality over quantity invokes curiosity. This is Tarlant Champagne.
We chose this bottle because, frankly, we had tried at one time or another every champagne on Robuchon Hong Kong's list. It ain't a small list, but too quaint for us...Robuchon Macau is another matter altogether!
A blend of, apparently 65% Chardonnay and 35% Pinot Noir with 6 g/l dosage (a bit higher than our liking). Bouquet of pleasant lemon, some yeast and of especial interest burnt caramel. Yummy. Palate has great lemon overtures with some toasty-oak and vanilla cream. A bit tangy on the end. A rather complex champagne that we would have preferred to sip out of a white Burgundy glass rather than a flute (albeit quite a generous mouthed flute). We remain of the opinion that "flutes" are for symphonies! In any event, a winner fro A to Z.
