20yr old Rasteau? alright, lets see... nose - tough, oxidative, vermouth-y. catsup mouth - coffee, cocoa, plummy, surripe but plush. better on the palate but IMHO past prime. Drink up. The patriarch informs me that he has a magnum, to which i can only wonder 'why?'... Drink up.

PnP as this was a backup and it showed old world garigue aromatics accompanying mature dark fruits. This showed very well an i thought it was better balanced then a recent bottle of the fleur i had recently. This really hit stride after a short decant, not overly complex but a nice mature CDR which was at a very nice place along it's evolution. I don't see much upside from here -time to drink

Not surprisingly this has evolved quite a bit in the last 6+ years. It is now sl oxidized, roasted, tired and rather dirty. There is no charm here and methinks the ship has truly (finally) sailed on this one. The next day after being pumped it was gross.
A big wine, certainly, but with much more freshness than expected - and feared.A massive core of sweet Grenache galore, but no prunes or others signs of heat, just your old vine big fruit and lots of local garrigue. Tannins are smooth, and while the fruit is still quite primary, I don't see this wine turning more complex - drink it and love it. Impressive, certainly, but the 2003 VV certainly was it's equal - kudos to Deranoncourt, who arrived in 02.

For a 22yr old village wine this was wonderful. Some brambly fruit, earth and spice notes. Lovely finish, rich and full but not overblown.
