The Good: A somewhat interesting wine to the eye with yellow gold, but yet at times glimpses of near orange seem to appear. Flavors of apricot, tangerine, almond, honeysuckle and orange blossom;
The Bad: Another linear wine. A house without foundation or the pallette of Picasso in another’s hands;
The Ugly: Alcohol (14.7%) shows big on the finish. The oxidation is apparent from the get go, and continues to build through the finish. With peanut soup. Over a couple of days beginning 03.17.11. Not Recommended.

From screwcap, of course. Deep yellow straw gold. The nose shows a tinge of oxidation, but not so much as to do more than add some interest. Yeast, orange and honey attack on triple fronts with oak and vanilla. Lemon curd, tangerine, leechee and lanolin follow. But by the finish, something odd is going on here. A bit of diesel seems to show. But following a taste of the Stolpman L’Avion, the Garretson becomes something that should not be returned to. By itself, the Limoid Cior is ok and just that. But the Stolpman shows all of the Limoid Cior’s limitations. Part of the fruit (40%) may be from the James Berry vineyard, but it’s not enough to save it. While Mat’s notes indicate this should be held “at least until 2013,” I do not think it will last that long. 14.7% alc. With crusty bread, cheeses, grilled pizzas. Recommended with reservations.

From a 375ml. Initially after twisting the cap it was badly out of balance. The alcohol dominated. It needed 15 minutes to come together. It tasted Rhonish but there was nothing that screamed roussanne. Vegetal on the nose. Mildly oxidized. A touch of honey and a touch of lemon on the palate.Short finish. I don't understand this wine. I'm guessing it's on a downward slope but I could be wrong. Since it's drinking about like a $12 cotes du Rhone right now, part of me doesn't see any harm in letting it go for a couple of years to see if it blossoms into something good. But cellar space is ight. I have bottles laid on boxes. So I think I'll put my last bottle, a 750ml, in the drink now queue and move on.

Really quite good. Great stone notes, with burnt caramel. Not your typical ripe Cali white.
