Very enjoyable, strikes a balance between old and new world Merlot. Plum and black fruit, violet, lavender, leather, dusty earth, charcoal, hints of baking spices. Medium bodied, medium complexity.
Very good.

Pop and pour from a 375, consumed over 2 hours. Nose: Medium-plus expressiveness, ripe plum, blueberry, blackberry, saddle leather, tobacco, and hints of lavender - quite intriguing. Palate: Medium-full bodied, sweet dark fruit attack, sediment contributes to a lightly gritty mouth-feel, a spice driven mid-palate lift quickly gives way to rust and earth dominated back-end. Finish: Medium length dominated by ripe plum, earth, and spice. Enjoyable at the moment, but I don't see this getting any better from here, at least in the 375 format.

Drank by Marianne. Too acidic and thin -- seemed more like an Italian sangiovese than a Cali merlot, with minimal complexity. This may have been better when it was younger.

Popped and poured from a 375, consumed over 1.5 hours. Nose: Medium expressiveness, smoke, dark fruit - plum and black berry, and a definite grape jolly rancher note (as I mentioned in a previous note). Palate: Medium-full bodied, nice dark fruit attack, holds up well thru the mid-palate where hints of tobacco and chocolate join in, the back-end reveals a nice spicy driven kick. Finish: Medium-plus length sense of spicy dark fruit, tobacco, and chocolate. My third experience with this effort and I would say it's the best yet.
