This Mourvedre from El Dorado is dark garnet in the glass with a redolent nose of leather, tobacco, blackberry, moist earth and cherry. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied with the same leather, tobacco, blackberry, moist earth and cherry, as well as white pepper, licorice, and (muted) oak, cedar and Christmas spices. It has medium-length, but nevertheless, memorable finish. It improved slightly after 24 hrs. suggesting that it has the tannic stuffing to cellar 3-5 years. That having been said, it's really too good now to set aside for any appreciable time. At $25 per bottle, the wine has an outstanding QPR.
