Nose has some spice to it. Palette isn't obviously Napa, but the fruit layers are there. More balanced with structure showing well. Tannins strong but not too much. This could use some time though. 400 cases made.

Dark garnet/purple color. Nose: blackcurrant, blackberry, and black fig with accents of tobacco, dark chocolate, licorice, cola, and violets. Medium body on the palate: blackcurrant, blackberry reduction, and black fig framed by cola, clove, licorice, dark chocolate, and damp earth. Medium+ acidity. Moderate fine-grain tannins. Lingering damp earth, blackberry skin, and cola/clove spice on the moderate/long finish. Focused dark fruit and spice flavors. Excellent acid/tannin balance. Drink over the next 3-5 years.

Vintage Select Industry Tasting (Vintage Select Warehouse, Houston, TX): Not sure where this is going. Has an interesting nose of black currant, plum, sour cherry, and noticeable bell pepper. On the palate, sour cherry, currant, bell pepper, mint. Finishes with decent grip and balance. The bell pepper is slightly off putting at this point. With a few years of age, that influence will likely diminish. Very good to excellent.
