  • 92-93 My best bottle of this by far. Opened about 1 1/2 hour ago and initially extremely elegant with just the right balance of acidity, maraschino cherry, violets and forest floor. As it opens it does seem to put on weight. A really nice drink.

  • This was a better bottle than the last one but still a little disappointing in terms of JGs score and the vintage. The fruit is a little muted and savory which while attractive doesn't really make it a delicious wine. Of course it's possible we are drinking them too young. I have one more bottle which I will put away for a few years. Perhaps I'm bring a curmudgeon but so far I don't believe that these LaFouge wines deserve the adulation and scores they receive. Their main virtue is their low price, so perhaps you get what you pay for.

  • Last night: Interesting to read these varying notes. I agree with Coremill. Very weird for a Pommard 1er cru from a top vintage with no structure and no complexity. I've had other bottles that were superior and still have two more, so perhaps it's just bottle variation.

Tonight: this has put on weight and is much better-greater density and soil overtones. 91 tonight-87 last night so 89 average.

  • Gosh this is so good... and what a bargain. It might be better than the delicious and lovely 2009. So I expect LaFouge to be light and pure, and it is. There is cherry and pomegranate and lovely soil and earth tones, like the 2009. This bottle just comes in with more purity and has an airy/billowy quality. Like Levenberg describes a feminine, I would even say elegant. Again, world class Burgundy can be had for $44 at no compromise.

  • I usually focus on the Auxeys as the house specialty chez Lafouge but decided to try some of the Pommard in 2010. At first I wasn't convinced, as it comes across a bit light and juicy for the appellation and seemed maybe more Lafouge than Pommard, but by the end of the bottle I was convinced. It is definitely not the stereotypical Pommard of earth and muscle but it does offer a sophistication and refinement a level above the Auxeys here. It has the pure and vibrant fruit that's practically a trademark for Lafouge but the main appeal here is how astonishingly sleek and silky it is, with a slim, feminine figure and a laciness that I haven't seen nearly as often in the vintage as I would have hoped.
