Based on comments, was expecting lots of alcohol. It was there, but not at all out of balance. The wine held the alcohol very well, after a triple decant and 4 hours! Very nice balance between dark brambly fruit and savory components (garrigue, etc.). Very dark for a 95% Grenache. Enjoyable!

Agreed, much too dominant alcohol and i can’t see that anything will happen in the future. Nice ripe plums were there too, but I was glad to make room for something else in da cellar. Maybe the fact that this was the first, untried vintage of Habemus Papam - who registered a fanthom 2008? - accounts for the present imbalance.

The alcohol rules! In the nose and on the palate. Liqueur notes in the nose, like cheap port wine. No trace of fruit just secondary notes of candized plums and fruits in spirit. Tannins (if any left) are dry and leave the mouth rough. After a glass I had enough. Did try the next day expecting to be smoother but it occured to be even worse, no fruit left at all, just the strength of the alco.
