A wonderful nose: high toned fennel, leather, farmyard and balsam. The kind of profile that can be sometimes found in older wines, but this isn't very old at all.
That similar profile comes through on the palate, yet here the complexity increases (some sour cherry is worth mentioning) and is carried through to a long and complex finish by somewhat tangy acidity. Only medium weight and no tannins to speak of. No reason to hold on to these further, given the joy it gives now.
Negatives? Not everyone will like the more aged wine / farmyard edged flavour profile and lack of upfront fruit. This is definitely in my style slot though.

3 hour decant. 13.5% 4 days of "red wine fast" is finally broken, so I might well over rate this :-) Dull purple - pleasant grape and sour cherry in the nose - nice in the mouth - dark fruits with the sour cherries in the background - nice balance - stylish but without pretension - fair finish - oh how I love red wine! Decent wine, nicely hitting the spot today.

Very dark red violet color; reduction, that blows off after 10 minutes or so, tart berry, ripe plum nose; tart berry, plum, berry jam palate; needs 1-plus year; medium-plus finish 88+ points (blend of Aragonez, Alicante Bouschet and Alfrocheiro; 14.5% alcohol, ph 3.8, 2.6 grams RS)

(Eugénio de Almeida Cartuxa Alentejo-Évora DOC) A pretty red, with fresh grapes on the nose, lots of rounded purple fruit on the palate, and smooth tannins. The Plains of Alentejo
