Decanted for an hour. Interesting black fruits, some violet flowers on the nose with some Oak. Alcohol well hidden. A touch of Eucalyptus/Menthol at middle/back end of palate throw the wine off slightly but not necessarily in a bad way. Good overripe dark fruits. Smooth.

PNP Almost a dark violet color, Olive, white pepper, blueberries, almost a cheese cake component. I like this wine, but it did not really have anything special grab me. Enjoyable, but not exceptional.

After three hour decant Appearance. Dark purple. Nose. Violets and cocoa, with the slightest hint of menthol. Palate. Velvety feel, with subdued notes of violets, cocoa and raspberry candy. There is the slightest hit of mint on the finish. Tannins are soft but add substantial body. Medium but satisfying finish.

Hmm, seems my CT inventory is off, insofar as this was definitely in my Eurocave but not in CT. Anywho...
PnP, this was showing very well on initial pour at slightly warmer than cellar temperature. As time wore on and temperature increased to room temp, it fell out of balance, with tannins becoming somewhat harsh, overpowering the still strong fruit. Still, at ten years in, this is drinking well, if you keep the temp under control.

(Force Majeure Collaboration Series III Syrah Ciel du Cheval Red Mountain) Opaque with a purple rim. An immediately appealing, aromatically complex wine marked by dark, brambly fruit, mineral, raspberries, and an underlayer of spice. The palate is fresh and rich with winding fruit flavors and a distinct mineral streak. Lingers on the finish. A thoroughly delicious expression of Washington Syrah. Give two years. 100% Syrah. Aged in French oak (30% new). 14.9% alcohol. 250 cases produced. Mark McNeilly winemaker. Note: To be released Fall 2012.
