Did not decant, but it was left to breathe for 70 minutes.
Bouquet is earth and minerals. The pallet shows leather and black spice coffee, hints of black raspberry. The unpolished tannins detract from the overall experience.

This is a forward style of Rioja, drinkable young. Well balanced, good fruit and suppporting acid. Dominating flavour is of cherrie-fruit, some spice, not very complex but very drinkable now-2-3 years.

Giant Wine Sale & Tasting Cellar on Greene 1/26/2013 (Cellar on Greene, Columbia, SC): Not my cup of tea, but can see why many would like this. To me this is the epitome of Old World style. The flavors and aromas seem oxidized in non fruit forward style. There are all kinds of flavors of metal and mineral that control the palate, practically drowning out the fruit. I guess this style has merit, and it does grow on you as you drink down the glass. The almost hidden fruit is black and brooding and hangs in there through the finish.
