  • A typical mass production Rioja. Nice and fruity but very little depth and complexity.

  • Quite typical Rioja crianza. Lots of fine aromas but the palate could have been more harmonized.

  • Dark and somewhat developed cherry red color. Sweet and somewhat woody nose with nuanced aromas of figs, vanilla, sweet black cherries, some savory old wood and a hint of dried dates. The wine is quite full-bodied, sweet and pretty round on the palate with supple flavors of ripe black cherries, figs, vanilla and some savory wood spice. The tannins are pretty mellow and the acidity is modest-to-medium. The finish is quite sweet, round and a bit flat with rich flavors of figs, pronounced black cherry, some sour cherry bitterness, a little bit of coarse wood and a hint of vanilla. The tannins lend a light touch of astringency to the aftertaste.

A nice, simple and drinkable Faustino that is instantly recognizable as a classic Rioja, but which fails to reach the level of higher-quality Faustinos. This seems a rather simple, straightforward and a bit lacklustre effort that tastes what you'd expect from a Rioja, but without the intensity, balance and structure. Works in a pinch, but not really a wine I'd choose myself.
