This is a very enjoyable Rhone style wine. Fruity, but not over the top. See tasting notes of 4/3/2012 and 9/23/2012 for details... But to that add an increased darker fruit component and a bit of leather and earth that have come more to the fore as the wine has matured. Additionally there is now a bit of black pepper on the finish. Like all of Jim's wines this just keeps getting better and better as it ages. Pretty darn fine for an entry level wine!

See tasting notes of April 3, 2012 for details. This Rhone style wine went perfectly with the Lamb Tagine with Prunes, served over Cous Cous. I believe that's it's settled and integrated a bit more as well... so am bumping the score a point. Absolutely yummy!

Pop and pour. Blackberry, boysenberry, flowers (lilies), raspberry, clove, and a little earth on the nose. Blackberry, spice, earth, flowers, and a little vanilla on the palate. There's a nice streak of acidity that keeps this wine fresh. After a few days, loses some of the freshness, and picks up some meat. This is definitely a better wine pop and pour for its fresh and fruity nature.

Nose is dark jammy fruit, red raspberry, cherry, a touch of vanilla/oak, and a slight bit of minerality. The brighter fruit (raspberry and cherry) are a bit more on the forefront on the tongue, but the darker jammy fruit is there as well. In addition there are notes of Smoke and toast. This is a very smooth Rhone style wine, with a luscious mouth feel and decently lengthy finish.
