  • Still improving. Raspberry and roses.

  • Aged raspberry, lilacs, mint; smooth, silky, almost velvety, modestly sinuous though mostly fairly linear, with an elegant finish; lacking somewhat in vitality and depth but very good nonetheless

  • This opened up pretty quickly. Very nice nose and silky, soft texture. Darker fruit tones with some savory accents. The bottle was emptied quickly. I see I paid $33 for this, and that was a great deal. I wish I had more.

  • Such a lovely nose - straight away. Darker ruby color than usual. Still clear, but a deeper less glossy hue. First nose is black fruit that makes you want to sniff and sniff! Quite quickly other stuff arrives. A bit of summer herbs - tarragon. And less vanilla than before. Almost lightly cooked meat too! A sweet fresher pipe tobacco? Nice mouth feel, any harsher tannins gone now. Medium to long finish. This wine confirms the often described Beaune app as being between the feminine Volnay and the more muscular north. If only we could buy this producers (one of my favs) base Level Beaune for as little as we did this one 8 years ago. Sadly Burgundy inflation means enjoying something as nice and special as this for a decent price is probably in the past.

  • very similar to my last note: red brick color - very pretty black cherry nose with some floral notes (roses) - full sweet bright cherry fruit in the mouth - very nice balance, and tannins are now fairly well resolved - medium length finish - this wine is drinking very nicely now, but needs another 1-3 years to fully develop its potential - it should have no problem lasting this long, or even longer
