  • Purchased at the winery where they have nice modern architecture and wonderful views. Not to mention a small room with toys for the kids. I don't drink pinot as much but was in the mood for something different to kick off the official snow season here. Pop n pour and drank over 2-3 hours. Fairly reticent on the nose. On the palate crunchy strawberries and some noticeable heat. Initially mild funk on the finish but this changed to brown sugar and then vanilla. Starting to integrate well. No taste of oxidation on day 2 but more heat and oak. Well made wine and should improve for at least a couple of years.

  • Medium/light bodied pinot with soft notes of coffee and vanilla; big presence of tart cherry overpowers most flavors, but mellows as the bottle breathes.

  • Tasted at 2 Lads Winery Tasting Room - Old Mission Peninsula, MI. Decent pinot, one of the few from this region that is better known for whites. Light ruby in color with aromas of plums, smoke, and earthy tones. Light cherry taste with touch of white pepper and vanilla, finishes somewhat short, with a harsh tannic bite - although this wine is extremely young. Definitely does not have the complexity, or oomph of a Cali Pinot, but it does have enough promise that I want to see how a bottle of it will taste in a couple years.
The modern 2 Lads Winery is not only a pleasure to look at from the outside, but provides a great view out to Grand Traverse Bay while enjoying some of the area's better wines. A definite must for your next Traverse City wine trip!
