Color: medium yellow. Floral nose of grapefruit, lychee, a little caramel and toffee. Palate has totally knit itself together since last tasted in 6/14 (and 12/12 before that), the fruit has finally reached maturity to my mind. Excellent acidity and structure with a moderately long finish. Grapefruit again, toffee notes and a touch of lemongrass. Still a slight touch of bitterness appearing at the tail end of the finish unfortunately keeping the score from going higher. Delicious now and into the future, this has followed the usual 7+ year evolution to maturity I've come to expect (and love) about Chalone's Pinot Blancs.

Color: medium yellow. Floral nose of grapefruit, lychee, a little caramel and butterscotch (yum!). Palate has knit itself together nicely since last tasted in 12/12, the fruit is finally approaching maturity to my mind. Excellent acidity and structure with a moderately long finish. Grapefruit again, toffee notes and a touch of lemongrass. There is still that light bitterness appearing at the tail end of the finish unfortunately; though I think that may resolve in the next year or so. Delicious and almost ready -- following the usual 7+ year evolution to maturity I've come to expect (and love) about Chalone's Pinot Blancs.

Color: Light straw yellow. Floral nose of grapefruit, lychee. Palate was lighter than usual -- nice acidity and structure with a moderately long finish. Grapefruit again and a touch of lemongrass. Slight bitterness appearing at the tail end of the finish. Hmmm . . . seems just a bit disjointed and young yet. I'll let the remainder rest at bit. Time will tell.
Left in fridge for 3 days (vacu-vined) then retried. Interestingly this has gained some weight/viscosity in the mouth. Also, getting more of the caramel/butterscotch elements I love about this wine so much when mature. Revising my score up a couple of points to a 90 now. I'm convinced this just needs time to rest and knit itself together.
