Plum pudding and branded fruit on the nose... blackberry, leather, and smoke on the palate with balanced mineralogy, and a velvety smooth finish - perfectly aged and mature wine.

PnP via Vinturi and drunk over several hours, with a braised lamb shoulder. Nose opens with black pepper and woody notes, cassis and blackberry present but very much in the background. Palate initially a bit tight but opened through the evening, viscous berry fruit balanced very nicely by firm tannins and mild acidity. Drinking beautifully now, no need to wait, but probably fine for a least three more years. I sure wish I had a few more!

(tasting room, from memory): Unusual nose of black pepper and woodsmoke (?) over dark fruit. Palate continues with more fruit and quite a lot of tannin. Very interesting and could be quite stunning in a couple of years. 14% alcohol - so nice that people have stopped making over-heated fruit bombs out of syrah!

Very rough when first opened. We used a Vac-Vin and let it sit for a few hours - then the wine was smooth and fruity, much more enjoyable.

Tasting Room: Could be great in 3 years, but way too spicy for me now.
