  • Held in storage prior to consumption.

Upon opening, despite other tasting notes, I found quite an expressive nose - I took no notes on what exactly they were, but fruit was still certainly there. On the palate, tougher - definitely needs food alongside it.

Overall, a worthwhile punt on a wine this old bought for £6, and I enjoyed it. Five bottles left.

  • Didn't expect much from this, but pleasantly surprised. The colour is deep garnet with slight browning toward the rim. The noise is full of deep mature fruits, leather, some evident acidity and savoury coffee notes. The palate is fresh, medium bodied with appealing citric acidity, and dark berries. Tannins are grippy, and there is a chalky minerality on the back end. Altogether,a very good wine, and for the price an excellent introduction to mature flavour profiles for those interested.
Revisiting this on day 2, after about 16 hours, this has rounded out slightly and is looking improved to my surprise. After 24 hours, it is now on the downward slide - some VA now evident, is becoming spiky and drying out.

  • Promising deep colour. Interesting nose of spice and wood. Mouth of acid and linctus. Not nice. Not nice at all.
