Too about an hour to get going - it was initially dry, tannic and not that pleasant. Now it's that meaty, gamy Corton-like aromas and palate. A little blocky and foursquare - certainly a food wine - but lots of fun if you're into this style.

Very dark color. Looked like a Syrah rather than Pinot! Lots of old world Pinot funk on the nose. Probably the purest expression on barnyard I've had in a while. With time, some dark red fruit comes out as well.
Has two of the things that define 2010 for me right now: pretty open for business and a great balance of cool acidity and beautiful fruit.

Gorgeous bottle of Ladoix, and very reminiscent of a Corton; it has all of the personality and most of the power. The fruit is rich and sappy, with a real sense of sève and palate grip. It has a lot of density, too, but it's solid--rich and fleshy without being flabby, a muscular concentration of fruit. A stony mineral element under the surface certainly enhances that sense of solidity--I just love the bold mix of stony earth and sappy, grippy fruit. And it's exceptionally easy to drink.
