  • Well made wine. A little chunky and one dimensional, but very good for a village Volnay. Fared well competing with 1er Cru wines in our club's recent blind tasting of '10 Cote de Beaune.

  • Open for business. Well balanced. If anything stands out, perhaps it's the tannins. Straight forward, well made, not complex, and meant for early drinking. Will, however hold and perhaps evolve into something better. Good value.

  • Produsentens beskrivelse:
    VOLNAY 2010
The vineyard is situated at the bottom of the hill with an East -
South East exposure. The soil is composed of clay / marl, on a
    calcareous sub-soil.
    Grape Variety
    100% PINOT NOIR
    Our oenologist's comments
    The colour is deep garnet.
The nose opens on very spicy notes such as black pepper, fresh
cinnamon and gingerbread. With some aeration, notes of very ripe
black fruits like blackcurrant and blackberry become apparent. It
has a very powerful and aromatic nose thanks to grapes which
were at full maturity at the time of harvesting. On the palate, the
first taste is velvety, yet slightly heady due to present but ripe
tannins which give a very beautiful roundness of structure. This
wine was aged in French oak barrels for 18 months, which has
brought a lot of delicacy and elegance to this Volnay.
The length on the finish is very intense which shows this is a wine
which can be kept in a good cellar for up to 10 years from the
vintage but one can begin to enjoy it from 2013.
    Sommelier's advice
To be served with a duck cooked with green peppers, a haunch of
venison cooked with raspberry vinegar, a Grenadin of veal with
mushrooms, a rabbit stew or a good refined cheese.
