Barreling toward 40 with no cliff in sight. Definitely tertiary stage, almost transparent with slight rust color at the edges. Just a whiff of volatility, dried flowers, earth and slight cranberry notes. Bracing acidity, sweet mature fruit and earth, keeps gaining in the glass. I have a few more, here is where storage is king, no hurry to drink the others. Point may be high, but I’m not really a points person.

While surely over the hill, this wine has held up remarkably well. With a little air this began an interesting evolution that continued from the first pour to the last. There was still some tart red fruit, but not on the front of the pallate. There was a real earthyness that encompassed everything from tobacco and leather, to mushrooms, white miso, and canned black olives.

A nice trip back in time... definitely soft but still vital. Best after about an hour of slow ox. Classic style with 12.4% alcohol. Mature red cherry fruit along with rhubarb and a nice bit of forest funk and a medium finish. Took a flyer on this bottle at auction and quite satisfied... paired nicely with oven roasted free range chicken and stuffing.
