A two hour decant has blown off the barnyard smells and revealed the fruit and complexity of this wine. It’s brawny, but balanced, with a core of dark fruits. No hurry drinking this one.

Same elements of aroma as the 2009, with a more forward nose, the mulch note more like bark, leaner on the palate and more acid, brighter, more vibrant, not as deep. Went well with the d'Affinois.

Nose: sour cherry, moist earth. Taste: crisp, medium body, moderate silky tannin, sour cherry, earth, caramelized ham, bitter herbs, smoke. Very long finish. Balanced. Very complex.
