Dark garnet, a touch of browning on the rim. Jammy, concentrated, fairly one dimensional Cab Sav nose. No real elegance or complexity, except perhaps for some notes of old leather as the age is starting to come through. Again, quite jammy on the palate, a good old new world fruit bomb, but the tannins are soft and the mouthfeel is quite plush. Very good acidity, which is needed. Generally not my style, but paired with food, this was actually quite enjoyable.

Have always very much liked the wines from this vintner, even with the price point $$$$. This is a mouth-filling, succulent Aussie Cab, fully-extracted grapes with strong notes of dark red cherry, and less obvious notes of graphite, coffee and chocolate. Almost has the style of a mouth-filling Rhone wine, but it is varietally correct as a Cab. We let this breathe for over an hour, and that seemed to do the trick to get it open, but you may want to decant. The longer this was open, the more complex this became. Definitely a wine to match with a hearty dish. Should be good through 2017, at least.

Great for a BBQ. Fruit forward, spicy and juicy. Nice acidity to keep it in balance. Could wait for another couple of years if need so.

A lot of structure to this cab but seems like it needs more time to balance itself out.
