Friday at the strand (Strand Cellars, Croydon): Ripe red over blackcurrant, pencil shavings, a little cedar, sweet spice on the nose. More of the same on the palate, chewy, chalky textured tannins, juicy acidity is nicely in balance and the whole travels long it non intrusive alcohol joining on the finish. Nice.

Deep dark colour. Ripe dark fruit, some mulberry with an attractive lightly herbal edge. Med wt, silky, nice deep fruit, finishes firm and a little rough. Chalky tannins, Hint of bitterness, slightly green. Lacks some charm. Not bad. Not great.
