Certainly had plenty of Zin qualities you'd expect. Lots of fruit, jammy, a little peppery. Nice pairing with spicy food. My wife liked it on its own too, I thought it was a little too much fruit for that. Solid wine for the price ($15).

F1 2014 Finals on TV with potluck dinner (Pine Close): Tasted blind. Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of blackberry jam and blackcurrant. Developed. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol, medium tannins, full body. Pronounced flavour intensity, with flavours of blackberry jam, blackcurrant, sour plum, sour cherry. Long finish. Good quality. Nice jammy fruitiness and approachable, but lacking complexity and depth. Drink up now, doesn't give me the impression that it's going to evolve any further with age.

I'm usually a big fan of layer cake, but this bottle was a little underwhelming from usual. Still a very good bottle, still very fruit forward, still jammy, but lacking a bit of body that I've experienced in the past with this wine.

Decent fruit forward red; I doubt if tasted blind I would guess zin/primitivo or Puglia. Little character but pleasant enough to quaff.

OK, but less attractive than most California zins.
