: Very fragrant nose that has a touch of decay and volatility - slightly sweaty notes, sweet vanilla and marzipan. The palate is very developed, but still quite alive, in terms of fruit and structure. A touch of residual sugar adds a lusciousness on the back palate. The nose hold back my score.

MW Sebastian Bredal Wine dinner (Restaurant Festningen, Oslo): Ap: clear dark purple red Ar: Dried fruit, ripe blackberries and a touch of bitter chocolate. Good intensity. Full bodied with smooth tannins. Appears lean with a clean palate. Lingering

Nice old amarone, which appears dry cpmpared to these young sweet fruitsbombs from recent years.

Have been excited to try this 26 year old wine for sometime now. Clear in appearance, brick red on the fringes. Lots of legs. Intense fortified nose verging on port. Intoxicating with elegance. A slight sweetness in taste. a combination of liquorish, Black cherry, bitter chocolate. Smooth - not silky. Drank this alongside the Costasera reserva 04 and classico 04. The alcohol was more prevalent and it had lost some vibrancy against its younger relatives, which is to be expected. A medium to long finish. Overall a wonderful experience, unfortunately my only bottle. Would have been intrigued to see if it could have gone another 5 years, no indication that it couldn't, however not sure it would improve.

N: wonderful mix of herb, fruit, spice and oak, so concentrated; M: still a lot of tannin, but smoothed, full-bodied, very sweet, licorice finish;
My first Amarone. Just wonderful. Very dark in color. Very fruity. Herb, spice, oak well balanced. Very concentrated and powerful. have not had a lot of experience with old wine, but nothing reminded me this is one. I liked the fruity sweetness in the front, followed by powerful yet smoothed tannin to show off the muscle. This bottle is directly from the wine maker's cellar. Very impressive. One of the best wine tasted so far.
