Past its prime. Interesting cinnamon note, but overall not all that pleasant. My bad for waiting so long. Ok for adding to Rao bottled tomato sauce to rinse out the jar and add some wine tone to the sauce.

Purple slightly toward garnet but doesn’t seem too oxidized.
30 min after decant: On the nose: prune, complex gamey herbs. Very rich red fruit, raisins. Fresh mint gèle? Structure, smooth tannins, surprisingly present for the age. Spice. Lingering prune.
First wine I’ve had older than myself and first amarone. Rings a bit too desserty for my taste but a very good wine nonetheless.

Party at Wimborne. Drank in Grassl Cru Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose medium intensity, with aromas of dried plums, mild raisins, dark herbs, dark forest berries, dark red cherries, oxidative caramel. Developed. On the palate, dry, medium acidity, high alcohol, resolved high tannins, full body. Medium+ intensity, with flavours of integrated chocolate, dried plums, raisins, dark red cherries, herbs, oxidative caramel, some sweet tea leaf. Medium+ finish. Good quality aged Amarone. Can see why this would be popular. Not up my alley though. Time to drink up. Just my perception that many Amarone seem to become oxidative with age.

Mørk rød farge, meget mørk kjerne. Ørlite organge / brunskjær mot kanten. Lukter av mørke modne tørkede kirsebær. Mye og kraftig lukt. Intens smak dominert av mørke bær. Krydret, men men merkbart alderspreg. Lite tanniner. Lang ettersmak.
