  Fun wine, and the addition of the Viognier really helps balance out what would otherwise be a heavy read. I could have used a little more of the jam that I expect in a Syrah, but I was not otherwise disappointed.

  Ran through the Vinturi into a decanter. This is a wine that needs a lot of time...in the decanter or in the cellar. The first couple glasses on day 1 were harsh, alcoholic, and tart. Lots of racy acidity, sour cherry fruit, oak and alcohol. I funneled back into the bottle and let it sit in the wine cooler for a couple days. Revisited on day 3 and it has settled down quite a bit. Still a lot of acidity, but the harshness and alcohol have tempered. Black cherry fruit, wood, espresso finish. Decent wine, but give it time.

  I don't know if the Syrah needed more air or the fact that I had my glass after dessert but it seemed very dark and meaty on the nose but overly tart on the palate. As it opened up i got a lot of black cherry and some floral aspect on the nose that made it more enjoyable. I saved a 375s worth so I'll try it again in a couple days. Glad to hear you liked the Malbec and I look toward to trying it some night.
