  • Very good. Opened up well during about 1.5 hrs of decanting. Interesting note of licorice/anise right off the bat that was picked up by both wife and I. This mellowed out after a bit - not offensive at all but an interesting flavor rarely experienced in a red.

  • I bought this wine a number of years ago when my palate was still developing, so this was an interesting trip back in time for me. I remember when I bought this wine thinking it was great. Now, I think this is a well made wine, but is not the kind of wine I would purchase. It's a very big wine in all respects; 14.8 ABV, 21 months in 100% new oak, very, very ripe fruit, not a ton of acid. Very nearly tasted like dessert, as the predominant notes were vanilla, cherry, and dark chocolate. The tannins were quite soft and well-integrated at this stage. In short, if you like big, new world wines, you'll love this.
