  • Bought this because a friend was coming who doesn't drink red wine (has adverse reactions to it) and I figured this was a pretty likely pleaser. I'm not making anyone drink anything that I don't think is well made, even if oaky, buttery Cali chardonnay isn't my thing, so I had to try it after we opened it to put some in the risotto we were having. At first glance, it was a little oaky, but not a lot, and no really evident butter from the malo. She must have liked it fine because she had a couple glasses, which is a big night for our friend. Later in the week, I noticed it was still capped with a VacuVin cork in the Kenmore, so I tried some after we finished a bottle of Pinot. It was nice, fairly rich and unctuous, with nice pear and melon notes, and just a little lemon, mild like Meyer lemon. This isn't over the top cougar juice, no insane RS, but it works for someone like that and for someone who drinks stony Chablis--something both sides might agree on if the Chablis drinker isn't too dogmatic.
