We pnp'd at lunch. It took a while to open up. Dark red fruit on the nose. The palate was berries, plums, a hint of pipe tobacco and some spice leading to moderately long finish.

Bllind Syrah (John's house): Splash decanted and served blind. Consistent with my last note. The wine is definitely Aussie shiraz, is lush, big and rich. There is tobacco and earth. As others have noted, it is on the verge of being flabby, but manages to hold it together. I guessed Clarendon Hills - wrong.

Blind Syrah From Anywhere (John's House, Mpls, MN): Very dark red color. PNP, drank a glass single blind over 3 hours. This is a biggere wine, lots of ripe black fruit, blackberry, blackberry liqueur, full bodied, quite lot of vanillin, young, just a little sharper on the palate. Has this as Aussie and between the '06 Clarendon and this - guessed wrong. Should have known, as the Clarendon is not quite this flashy.

Southern Hemisphere Wines (Jason's House): Slow o'd for 3 hours. This wine was the favorite shiraz at a Southern Hemisphere tasting. The wine is definitely Aussie shiraz, is lush, big and rich. There is tobacco and earth. As others have noted, it is on the verge of being flabby, but manages to hold it together.
