Nebbiolo Night + a solo sneaky Brunello (Extra Space): Tasted blind. Aired in decanter and drank over 3 hours. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium- intensity, with aromas of toasted oak, a bit of coconut, and earth. With more air, a bit of herbs. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, high alcohol, high tannins, full body. Medium flavor intensity, with flavours of toasted oak, red cherries, and earth. Medium finish. Acceptable quality. Still young and very tight now, hopefully it will open up and develop some complexity over the next 5 years.

To start with, this Barolo was inexpensive by Barolo standards, so I did not set my hopes too high. On opening and pouring, the nose was pleasant but not overpowering, the colour was ruby. On the palate it was a little harsh at first but 15 minutes down the road it was soft and very drinkable. Drank it over a 2 hour Chinese meal with a range of meats and vegetables and it paired well overall. It can be drunk now. I don't think leaving it for another few years will make any real difference.
