  • Deliciously mature. The fruit is mellow and the bacon is showing! Isn't that what we spend a decade to wait for.

  • PnP to glass with 15-min open. Milky dark magenta with moderate transparency. Nose- Hint of VA at first, but otherwise very pretty raspberry tart then raspberry creme brulee with that delicious toasted vanilla bean aroma. There's an appetite inducing beef au jus/umami that's also quite nice; plummy. Palate- lithe and glossy going down with tart tart tart apple and raspberry Now n Later hard-candy flavors that pickup in tartness and intensity meeting the finish. Medium bodied mouthfeel that's adorned with multiple layers that add dimensionality; one of these layers is of acid, another sweet creme and sour fruit pulp. No real pepper quality showing here. It's interesting to observe how different this lighter, somewhat aged expression of Syrah is compared to so many other examples around the world. It reminds me of 10-year old Rioja minus the earth and dustiness. Speaking of which, tannins in this wine have fully integrated and only show on the fore teeth and a little in the jowls. This is really a delight to drink and one of the better met wines I've faced in several weeks.
