With 2 years on its side, I see a little improvement. Coloring is quite purple, nose of red fruits, but dominant cherry. Reminds me of vanilla cake batter. One dimensional, but then we're only talking a $6 wine. Not something I'd buy again.

Tasting notes as I have noted in my last tasting notes on 7/9/2007 below, with one exception: This time around, I detected more 'heat' in the midpalate and finish than I recalled from the last tasting. Also it seemed more awkward and sour. I can't say definitively whether it was me, or the wine that changed. Will re-taste 2nd night but lowered score to 85 based on this. Still a fine QPR Update: 2nd night nothing had changed. With half a bottle left, I vacu-vinned it and revisited it on the 4th day. Surprise, the wine had settled down and was more like I remembered it. Normally by this point, most wines would have gone flat. Perhaps it's just a weird stage for this wine. I dunno, except it was a whole lot better 4th day...and that's a bit odd for something that's not a young tannic Bordeaux or some such, especially considering i was drinking so well last summer.

Consistent in all aspects with my previous tasting note. Cherry and spice on the nose. Palate of dark red fruit, spice, and a bit of oak. As with past bottle, the finish remains short with minimal tannins. A very nice budget Shiraz.

An unexpected treat. Medium-dark red in color. Nose of cherry and pepper. Dark cherry, spice, and a hint of oak on the palate. Fairly one-dimensional. Short finish. A good buy, especially as part of the BevMo five cent sale. An everyday wine whose good value makes up for its somewhat lacking personality. Easily, one of the better bottles of budget Aussie Shiraz available.

Jammy with noticeable tannins, but nothing in between. Drinkable but with a hollow midpalate.
