11.5% abv. Approx 60% gamay and 40% pinot noir. Ruby red, clear. Raspberries on the nose, earth and a bit of spice. Lighter bodied, no tannins, lingering acidity.

While the extruded synthetic cork and low sulfur regimen would indicate a wine on the downslope, I didn't find that. Instead, as before, the first pour is nothing more than, "This is nice," but with air and time all of a sudden you're looking at the last sip and thinking, "Damn, I could use some more of that." Superb match with salmon. This bottle was cloudy, so be careful whom you serve this to. Very Good+.

There's just a touch of Brett (I think) on the nose here, but not overpowering. Otherwise it's characteristic of Puzelat-style wines, and to my mind there's a definite style there. 'Fruity' doesn't describe it. The hand of the winemakers is evident. This seems to have a bit less vibrancy than some recent vintages--it strikes me as 'plummier.' I'd call this so-so; maybe I'm just suffering from overt style fatigue.

Confraria - Agosto - 2014 - Segunda (Saint Vin Saint): What a nice surprise. Resembles a Chinon. Slightly sparkling.
