Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 91.6 pts. and median of 92 pts. in 92 notes)

Tasted by wineward on 2/7/2010 & rated 92 points: Note after poured 30 minutes. Lovely aroma of tea leaf and black fruits...very alluring. Palate of tobacco and black currant. Still a thick swab of tannins that coat the mouth. Outstanding. (85 views)

 Tasted by Aiko165 on 1/10/2010 & rated 99 points: (140 views)
Tasted by isergy on 1/3/2010 & rated 93 points: Very nice. Smooth as silk. Just enough fruit. A little spice on the finish. Decanted for about 3 hours prior to consumption. A winner! (298 views)
Tasted by FozMonster on 12/26/2009: Disappointed...started out nice out of the bottle and just didn't stand up (326 views)
Tasted by spotfin on 12/25/2009 & rated 92 points: Good fruit, a bit sweet, velvety tannins, pretty good. (352 views)
Tasted by jrube on 12/20/2009 & rated 88 points: (328 views)
Tasted by Outlier on 11/20/2009 & rated 93 points: Very nice, incredibly drinkable, although a bit jammy and missing some complexity I was hoping for. (657 views)
Tasted by ours de vin on 11/10/2009 & rated 91 points: Very nice wine; great aroma after 1 hour decant. Medium length finish with layers of leather, coffee and berries (878 views)
Tasted by PBCguy on 10/20/2009 & rated 93 points: Opened and tasted within minutes, deep berry on the nose suggestion of leather, super concentrated on the palate. Opened up nicely with hints of vanilla on the nose. A super complete wine, long finish. Lends itself to enjoyment and conversation (951 views)
Tasted by grossie on 9/18/2009 & rated 91 points: A bonus bottle in my cellar- never logged in but hidden among my 2001 California collection. Decanted for about 3 hours after I opened it and got a pretty good tannic pucker at first. It's medium red and quite clear. Expressive nose of mint, smoked cedar, and bright red fruit, maybe a little green pepper. It's light on its feet with a silky mouthfeel, rich fruit, and a nice acidic bite at the end. I like this style, it's got richness and bold fruit but has the acid structure to hold it up. It would benefit form better aromatics and secondaries, although it's possible I drank it too soon.  Tasted by Anonymous on 9/6/2009: Decanted for an hour. Deep ruby. Dark fruit and vanilla in the nose. Rich blackberry, smoothly oaked, and with a hint of remaining tannin at the finish. Primarily fruit, but not a "fruit bomb," and beginning to drink well now. I wonder if more will emerge. (1003 views)
Tasted by gzim on 8/29/2009 & rated 92 points: popped and poured half a glass 3 hours before dinner. Nose of some toasted oak and cassis. On the palate more of the same, lots of toasted vanilla's oak, underscoring the cassis and boysenberry dark sweet fruit. I found the structure to be the framework around which these dark fruits were showing. Very nicely done. Glad I have 2 more. (980 views)
Tasted by dannyk8232 on 8/11/2009 & rated 92 points: Consumed side-by-side with the 2006 Isosceles...

Deep and multi-layered with great tannins and some nice secondary coffee characteristics. (1179 views)
Tasted by smiledoc on 8/10/2009 & rated 94 points: Had a magnum after golf with salad, snacks, steak and chocale covered strawberries. Wonderfully fragrant with depth and balance. Mature, elegant and vibrant to the nose. Everyone loved it. (1188 views)
Tasted by divesnob on 7/10/2009 & rated 91 points: Strawberry (1398 views)
Tasted by Deryl on 7/5/2009 & rated 92 points: This was a very nice surprise. Not a bit over-aged. (1272 views)
Tasted by bigdogflow on 5/16/2009 & rated 91 points: (990 views)
Tasted by Whine-Oh on 4/12/2009 & rated 92 points: Had at 333 Pacific in Oceanside. Popped and tasted within 30 minutes.. a bit muted to start, but opened up nicely over an hour or so. Nice crimson color, no detectable bricking. Aromas of toasty oak, vanilla and some lighter dark fruits. Up front fruit was still there but not over the top. Resolved tannins were nice and gave it a velvety mouthfeel. Very easy to drink, seemed to be a hit w/some non-winos as well.. I would like another bottle to try again in a few years. (1691 views)
Tasted by Hollowleg on 4/10/2009 & rated 92 points: Popped, decanted & poured.
Class A fruit, smooth & round, nice long finish.
This is such an easy wine to drink & like.
Critics may put this in the "obvious" category, but I see nothing wrong with that. (1661 views)
Tasted by Wonder on 3/7/2009 & rated 91 points: awesome (1768 views)
Tasted by nwk on 12/24/2008: This was a real let-down. Oak city and over-ripe fruit. A day in the decanter helped very little and i suspect this is just not my style. The oak seems to mask any vineyard character, as the flavors center on vanilla, praline and coffee- smelled like an ice cream sundae. It was soft and accessible, and i cannot see this going anywhere better. (1852 views)
 Tasted by dannyk8232 on 12/2/2008 & rated 93 points: (1279 views)
Tasted by EducatedDrunk on 11/2/2008 & rated 90 points: On opening, was a bit "flat" - fruit forward and an acid, tannic finish with no real midpalate. After an hour in the decanter, had settled down nicely. We drank it with a steak. Big dark fruits on the nose, but now nicely integrated and smooth with the tannins and acids merging into the background. Long mouthcoating finish. High alcohol not noticeable on the nose. Drinking very well now, I'd say would still age for 3-4 years if you're feeling brave. Definitely needs decanting though, the last bit is a bit murky as the wine is unflitered. (1986 views)
Tasted by Hollowleg on 10/13/2008 & rated 91 points: Pop & pour, within 30 minutes the flavors come through. The taste was the star here, while the nose was uncharacteristically subtle for an
"Isosceles".
Nice spice & dark fruit with a semi-dry finish.
Thoroughly enjoyable. (2087 views)
