  • This is an amazing wine. I was reluctant to open this "Argentine Malbec" and was afraid of another juice of rusted nails. The appearance increased my fear, dark purple, almost black. But then a pleasant nose emerged. The wine is wonderful, huge structure but perfect balance with fruit but also chocolate and a very long finish. Concentrated but never aggressive. Later I learned that is only 50% Malbec, with the rest mostly Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, which may explain why such a great achievement in making this wine. It is Drinking beautifully, perhaps it will last a few more years but, why wait?

  • shared with pat at selkirk manor to celebrate the completion of another week of sip in place due to covid-19. i continue to pull bottles from the cellar with past due drink by dates. this wine proved to be in sound condition. i agree with the accolades offered by the last three member tasting notes. this wine is head and shoulders above any malbec which i have ever had from any terroir. it truly shows its pedigree proudly. generous nose leaps from the glass. in the mouth it presents as an iron fist in a velvet glove. it glides effortlessly across the palate. lingering finish. the wine fills the mouth generously but, at the same time, offers delicate fruit aromas. elements of sweetness balance the acidity. overall, an amazing tasting experience. i look forward to doing a vertical with the 2005 in two years time.

  • Beautifully perfumed nose, with fragrant cedar, graphite, and earthy fruit. The palate shows similarly, with a slightly sweet mouthfeel. Shows its classy pedigree well. I am not usually a Malbec fan, but this is a fantastic wine.

  • Open 30 min prior: dark ruby, restrained nose, mulberry on pour; medium body with reasonable spine of tannin, nice persisting spicy finish; over time, opens nicely secondary herbal notes on nose; sweetens in mouth
