Drank in Key West @ The Garden Cafe w Kim & a bunch of friends. Surprisingly floral nose with apricots and mango. Quite buttery and oaky, more so then expected and very similar to many Napa chards which is a style I don't necessarily really care for preferring my whites more clean, crisp and acidic. Underlying flavors included apricot, mango and mild pepper on the finish. Good mouth feel w/out any off tones and moderate aftertaste. Good bottle, hard to find

A Chardonnay from the famous Pinot producing Domaine Serene. Clearly french in style and substance. Took a bit to open up and present a balanced and French oak finish

I am shocked how much I like this wine, since I am not a chardonnay fan. I find most California chards to be much too woody. Conversely, I find most Oregon chards to much to acidic, but this wine has none of those flaws. The nose is strong with pine resin, hazelnuts, and some smoke. The palate is wonderfully balanced with more hazelnuts, butterscotch, and lemons. I also found a long finish and soft, lush moutfeel. The only flaw is a touch too tart finish. I am impressed.

A bit woody, but overall well balanced. The fruit is not overbearing. This wine has a transparency of flavors that keeps it interesting.
