Can't believe that it has been 7 years since I last tried this. Also sadly can't believe this is my last bottle of Kaella. It really is too bad Dave Butner stopped making wine. He was a brilliant winemaker.
This wine aged very nicely. Pop and pour, and almost right out of the bottle was a well balanced black cherry with a hint of chocolate. But had enough acidity to back it up. Went great with my steak dinner.

Dark garnet with tart cherry, blackberry nose. Tart red berry medium fruit and body light tart tannins. Red berries, boysenberry and red currants with some sour Himalayan blackberry cane pith notes which I find quite appealing, YMMV. I did recently have a more generic Merlot with this same quality, not soft and jammy and appealing to my Pinot centric tastes. Mid between old and new world and very pleasant if your tastes run to the acid side of the spectrum.

Drinking beautifully. All of the structural elements have completely integrated, the fruit is still there (along with the herbs previously mentioned), there's a hint of potpourri and the texture has smoothed. Nice wine.

Dark fruit is combined with secondary elements to provide an interesting and enjoyable drinking experience. I'm happy to have tried this, though I should have paid a bit more attention to it.

Unchanged from my previous note. At peak, though I wouldn’t hold it past its 10th birthday.
