Pleasant bdx blend. Decanting over 30 mins helped a lot. Nice earth and body came out pleasantly thinner/more balanced than expected. Definitely not a big wine but good fruit

finding that I prefer the Rhone varietals over the Bordeaux varietals from this producer. Nice Cab/Syrah blend, but nothing too complex. Missing that Cayuse 'meatiness' in this bottle. Could it have aged too long? Ex-Cellar 2020 release.

Just opened and poured. Nice nose and palette notes. Feel a balanced bottle with a nice acidity streak that uplifts everything with freshness. Interesting things are going on, but it will take time to open up. See how it develops over the next days and nights. Let bottle breathe for about an hour and an exquisite and beautiful volatile profile has emerged. Great bottle so far! Amazing nose.

Classic nose on opening - matchsticks and hot dry desert basalt leading into a disjointed barnyard of tastes that never integrated and landed on a final stewed prunes note.
I know people love this “rocks wine thing” but I have had only a few bottles I have enjoyed and this was not one of them. Decant for a long time makes sense amd we did not do so this time out so maybe we didn’t do the “work” to achieve a great outcome…and I disagree with the recommendations to let these age - i believe from our experiences, for the most part, drink them in a five year window from release.

Thanks to Ron Slye for suggesting a decant, which we did six hours before drinking it with a rack of lamb. It seemed harsh and green on first pour, but by dinner time it was smooth, not tannic and not bright fruit. Like Ron I tasted the plum flavor, cooked plum not fresh and sweet, tho I didn’t taste rubber, forest floor, or leather but then I’ve never tasted those. As mentioned below, blood and black olive are also descriptors I’d use. With an after dinner chocolate truffle the fruit flavor was more noticeable. A nice start for my first Cayuse, but sounds like this blend is not what Cayuse is best known for.
