Clear, deep garnet with slight rim browning. Black plum, leather, clove, menthol. Low acids, medium to low tannins. Blackberry. Medium balanced finish.

A perfectly quaffable Syrah that shows hints of refinement. Soft nose and palate. Not as good as the Golden's Legacy Syrah, same vintage. Over-priced for what it is. 88-89.

With immediately-expressive aromas of smoked meats, plums, pepper and pickling spice, this deep-to-opaque red wine impresses from the get-go. Full-bodied and fresh on the palate, it flaunts flavors of black fruit, pepper and cocoa. The tannins are generous but very fine-grained and the alcohol (listed as 13.9%) is seamless. Solid in the middle, it concludes in lengthy fashion. This wine is drinking beautifully now and has the structure to impress for several more years. Drink now-2020.

Melissa's wine. Typical of a midling Washington syrah, balanced and gulpable but with no real personality.
