Dark garnet but translucent, with some bricking on the edges. Deeply scented -- one can triangulate leather, cherry jam, prunes, and a bouquet of dried roses for the aromatics. Full flavored, with Zinfandel generosity and sucrosity and with more tannin than most Zins or Zin blends. Length is rather better than par as well. The overall effect is nostalgically rustic, closer to Ridge than to the uber-polished Turley, sensuous, perfumed Carlisle or romantic and sometimes quixotic Bedrock. 4 + 12+ 17 +7

Classic Amador Zin (spice, earthy, dark fruit, mouth-filling) from a very reliable vintner who specializes in - and may make the best Sangiovese in Cali. It was really good, but didn't have enough to it to merit a score above 90. For the $29 we spent several years ago at the winery expected just a tad better. That said, this was enjoyable and drinking well- do not see any aging potential left. It was no better the second night and indeed starting to slip away with a slightly port-like taste.

Quite complex for a Zinfandel. Would compliment red meats, well seasoned white meats, pastas, and even strong flavored fish like salmon.

Very good. Takes a while to settle down out of the bottle, but once it has, this wine comes together nicely. Big, jammy and dense.
