Although red black fruit was present, it seemed very sharp on the palate. It would appear that either it was not balanced from the start, or that it was past its prime. Since storage conditions were very good for my wine, I would suggest anyone with this wine check their stock and drink it up.

This wine, like most of Bretts wines was sumptuous, inky, structured and delicious.Smoke, Cocoa, bacon fat, its of dark blueberry and black berry still holding up, this wine could have gone another 10 years and developed even more leather. This is what Petite Sirah should be!

Slightly translucent purple-black in glass, fruity aromas of crushed blackberries. Palate opens with blackberries, a touch of black cherry and some cedary notes, a light tannic structure and a medium-short finish. Pleasant, but not inspiring.
