  • Aromatic with rich white fruits, tropical notes and toasty hazelnut. Rich and delicious in the mouth. Luscious sweet white fruits and buoyed by cutting acidity. Well rounded, pure fruits and intense in the long finish. Very enjoyable.

  • Took to an offline at JR Young's place. It was served alongside a 2001 Mersault.
The Mersault had more finesse and a touch more complexity but the Varner was richer - not a lot to choose between them and if the Varner had two more years in the cellar it would have been even better. Overall Ali and I just preferred the Varner. One big advantage: Varner use normal sized bottles - the french stuff won't fit in my racks.
