Notes after following for 3 nights, recorking and re-cellaring each night. Extra dark, dusty garnet color. Fully opaque with lightly stained, slow-forming legs. Small amount of sediment. The nose is by far, the most generous Celestus or for that matter, Daou wine I've had among the 50 or so consumed. Big, zippy bramble and blackberries that tickle the senses on the first night, showcasing the Syrah component. Calming down on night two to reveal cassis, tobacco, sweet flower notes, spices, and less oak. The third day did notice a touch of pruney oxidation creeping in but it was still great on the palate. The mouth is rich and creamy with a lot of oak on night one but I rather enjoyed it for a change. There's enough fruit available to keep the heavy wood from ruining it, and the tannins are soft and mellow. You feel their grip, but there's no drying out or bite to end the flavor. The finish is long and remarkably clean after the explosion of decadence that rocks the palate. 14.5% is no problem here. If you can follow this over the course of several hours in a decanter, it's a really good drop to drink now. It should also continue to drink well, and perhaps improve, over the next 1-3 years. 5+12+17+7 = 91

A very nice and full flavor profile. Still a bit young, but very nice dark fruit characteristics on the palate.
