Medium yellow colored with nose of passionfruit, lime and mineral.
On the palate, passionfruit, lime, mineral and a hint of peach. Interesting in that the nose suggests sweetness but tastes dry; if there is residual sugar, it's scant. Nice weight and crisp acidity with a lingering finish. 12.5%abv.

This VDP vineyard was unknown to me and I was quite impressed. Complex Riesling with multiple layers of stonefruit, pear, minerals, and petrol. Improved even further in the glass during the evening. Long finish.
This was the fourth out of six bottles of a very nice private German Riesling tasting with vintages from 1971 to 2013.

Bright, cut and spicy nose - minerals, passion fruit, lime. Crisp citrus on the palate with more lime and passion fruit. The mineralty is there as well. Light and clear. The finish is tart citrus and a bit screechy. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 4/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 - 15/20.

Apricot, honey, very pretty riesling nose. Very nicely structured, bracing acid but substantial body (alc 12.5%). Trocken, but tart sweet fruit on the palate. Paired with grilled sausages and mild goat cheese.

Not enough light outside to comment on color. Apricot, honey, and lime on the nose. Beautiful bright acidity shines through with stone, petrol, and honeydew rounding out this terrific wine. I thoroughly enjoyed this. A new benchmark for me with respect to riesling.

(Minges Riesling Spätlese Trocken "Froschkönig") ($33.00) The “Frog-King” bottlings began as a 1-off in the ‘07 vintage. There was a vineyard whose grapes appeared “so perfect, it was a shame to pick them.” Theo wondered how such grapes would transmit the “energy” he’s attuned to if he did absolutely nothing to them. And so they fermented with no intervention, and lay without sulfur on their gross lees until about 18 months later. They’re bottled when they’re ready and not before. Sometimes they’re dry and sometimes off-dry, but the closest thing to them is Nikolaihof ’s Rieslings from Im Weingebirge. Theo was so happy with those experiments in ‘07 that he hopes to continue with at least one wine from each vintage. This ‘10 is still in cask, and it’s seriously beautiful wine, with a lovely gentle old-fashioned touch, some tantra of oxygen and vinosity; really creamy and long, dried fruits and exotic fruits and a loessy-seeming succulence that suggested GrüVe; saturated with soul and earthy complexity. “Dry” but physio-“sweet.” ++
