I'm torn about my rating because it's a well-made, balanced wine; black fruit (a little too much for my tastes in pinot) but not over-extracted and it possesses good acidity. But briny component that reminds me of sea salt, or even celery salt. I just don't find this wine enjoyable to drink, so I'm giving it an 88 to remind myself of that later on.

In VdG with (R&G)&E, Nose - mellow nose of dark fruit Mouth- rich but uncomplicated dark fruit, lush blackberry, in a way a very pure expression of a dark fruited Pinot, I think this site merits study. Lacks the root beer complications of so many other well intentioned domestic Pinot noir. I think with time this Site's expression can be further refined and made to be blockbuster.

Nose - chestnut, dark cherry Mouth - lovely purity of fruit, with impressive concentration to boot. Excellent structure and long finish. Still young. At the risk of giving away secrets, one of my favorite domestic pinots

(Waits-Mast Family Cellars Pinot Noir Wentzel Vineyard) Pre-release - very dark cherry red color; very appealing, tart berry, blackberry, black cherry nose; tight, tart black cherry, tart berry, black raspbery palate with medium acidity; needs 2 years and should age well; medium-plus finish (clones 114, 115, 667 and 777)

Deep and brooding. Heavy Forrest floor and red fruit. Cherries and cranberries at the forefront. A stunner. 2 hours of air before serving.
